Day 31 - July Challenges

Today was the last day of the July Challenge and it is the Chair/Awkward Chair Pose or Utkatasana:

These challenges are soooo much fun and some days are definitely more 'challenging' than others!! Can't wait for the 7-Day Plank and Core Challenge coming up starting tomorrow!

Day 30 - July Challenges

I can't believe it's almost the end of the month.....just one more day of challenges - here is the last pose for the jts challenge, not really sure why there was not one for day 31, but here it is, Dancer Pose Variation:

And for the btbb - Bakasana - I chose the less difficult Crow Pose instead of Crane:

So, I have up a new challenge for August but it's only the first 7 days, I'm scouring some other challenges but none of the others really interest me....some weeks will be missed for a family vacation so I'm really excited for that!! Whoooo......can't wait to step away from all obligations and spend really alone time with my men!!  I'll have to find some fun time to do some sdy's during our trip. ;)

Day 29 - July Challenges

Today I felt really good inside and I felt very strong ~ so I decided to focus on some of the more advanced poses that I haven't done for a while.  It was fun to get back into the bending and twisting that these poses provide.  I did the Grasshopper or Parsva Bhuja Dandasana:

I'm slowly learning how to get my left leg straighter. Sometimes my brain clicks and I can figure out how to do it.  Today was an enlightening day of 'brain' clicks and I'm not as straight on thpe leg as I want it but still working on it.

Next up was the Flying Pigeon Pose or Eka Pada Galavasana:

and the final pose is the favorite Dancer challenge pose for the jts:

Will always be a favorite of mine no matter what.

Day 28 - July Challenges

Todays pose for the btbb challenge reflects how I feel today..haha....called Wild Thing or Camatkarasana:

Great stretch for the back and leg balancing as well.....

and the jts challenge pose is the full split - Hanumanasana or the Monkey Pose:

And yesterday, I just had to attempt the Fire Hydrant Pose, hard.....very, very hard.  I still think I could get my balancing better on the left leg:

And move/shift my body more towards my right - get my buttocks aligned.

Day 27 - July Challenges

Today is Locust pose or Salabhasana for the btbb:

And the jts challenge pose is a really deep side split lunge preparation with a forward bend:

Sunday, July 26, 2015

Day 26 - July Challenges

Today for the btbb is Gomukhasana or Cow Faced Pose.  I did mine with an arm binding:

And the jts challenge pose is Goddess Pose or Utkata Konasana.  I've said it before - I really don't feel like a 'goddess' with this pose but the hip flexing is a great one:

I'm excited that DH has almost completed his 30-Day Beginner's Yoga Challenge!! It was hard, he had to miss a few days due to his intense work schedule, but I have to hand it to him for going right back to it on the days that he could.  It's difficult that he is on-call so much and has to miss out on a lot of functions at home, with the family, with ~ life in general.....but he is always there for the clients - the customers when they need him and that's why he works so hard - to keep them happy.  I'm glad he has accomplished as much as he has.  I asked him how he felt thus far and he said he doesn't experience back pain anymore and leg cramps have gone away!!! Woot!!

I'm urging him to continue his journey, albeit, I know his time is more limited than mine.  But continuing is so important in the long run.  I can't tell you how much my own journey has changed my life and well being.....it's just been amazing!

I can only hope to be a continuing support for him, but eventually, you have to be your OWN motivator, no one can do it for you....it's something that has to come from within.  I hope he will find his own 'within'....

Day 24 - July Challenges

Post for today for the jts challenge pose:

Ever find yourself running around at 100 mph? Non-stop. Summer seems to be always that way.  But good to keep busy I just wish, I could stop a little to breathe.  I guess this journaling on a daily basis is my 'breathing' - breathe Tif!!!

Beautiful day and happy weekend!!!

Day 23 - July Challenges

I only had a little time for one pose, for the jts challenge:

A forward bend in a lotus position - arms straight out:

Busy, busy, it's only going to get crazier.  I know I will be missing a few days on the btbb challenge but will be able to fully complete the jts challenge all the way. Yay!

Day 21 - July Challenges

Lots of fun stuff today.  Two challenge poses and some inspirational poses -  first the btbb challenge pose:

On the King Pigeon pose, I can't get my hand to touch my feet at the back of my head yet, so still a work in progress, this is the best I can do for now with reaching my right hand around my back.

For the jts challenge pose:

I also did a seated toe stand pose with an added twist, and oh, this was one was a hard one to balance, phew:

And the last pose was a double 90 degree with one arm and two legs:

The last two poses were inspired by fabulous IG yogini's. Love inspiration from others. It's a great building tool for your own progress.

Day 20 - July Challenges

I only did the jts challenge pose for this day:

I felt like I was getting ready to sprint around a track here.  Really great stretch for the back and legs.

Sunday, July 19, 2015

Day 19 - July Challenges

For the jts pose - another split variation with a forward bend:

And the btbb challenge pose is a modified bridge pose with a one leg extension:

Day 18 - July Challenges

So yesterday, I was playing around with a whole bunch of poses and almost twisted my lower leg muscles on my right leg....ow.  I think I overextended while doing a move but that happened at the very end of my session - so I was able to finish my challenge poses before my leg started hurting.  :( I think that means a little resting up.

For the fallen angel pose - I'm trying to find some fun variations with it and see if I can do anything different, I have a few in mind, but still working on it.

For the btbb challenge pose - I'm not able to do a full Wheel Pose so I opted for a modification with the Bridge Pose:

and for the jts challenge pose, is the one legged downward facing dog or sometimes called the three legged downward facing dog or Eka Pada Adho Mukha Svanasana and Tri Pada Adho Mukha Svanasana:

Friday, July 17, 2015

Day 17 - July Challenges

For btbb challenge pose is the Fish Pose or Matsyasana:

and the jts challenge pose is the Revolved Triangle or Parivrtta Trikonasana:

So similar to the pose from yesterday, but just switching the standing legs around.  I get a deeper bend with the Revolved than I do the regular Triangle Pose.

Thursday, July 16, 2015

Day 16 - July Challenges

The Low Lunge Pose or Anjaneyasana:

and the for the jts challenge pose - Triangle pose or Trikonasana:

So I got on the scale this morning to make sure I haven't lost too much weight. :| One of my topics previously was to gain muscle strength - toning and ofcourse arm and leg strength, which I have acquired in some ways, but I never expected to lose weight.  That was not my intention.  I seem to be getting smaller and smaller. Yikes!  I may not be eating enough.  Onwards with tomorrow and then the beautiful weekend!!

Day 15 - July Challenges

I only did one pose for the jts challenge.

Half Pigeon Pose or Ardha Kapotasana:

I'll skip any major back bending poses until I get a proper Dharma Wheel for support.

Tuesday, July 14, 2015

Day 14 - July Challenges

btbb challenge pose is the Bow Pose or Dhanurasana:

Looking back, I think I could have done a little better with the arch on my back and my leg shift.  And always working on lifting my chest a little more.

And the jts challenge pose:

Monday, July 13, 2015

Day 13 - July Challenges

btbb challenge pose - Cobra Pose or Bhujangasana or Upward Facing Dog:

jts challenge pose:

Where did my head go? :)

Day 12 - July Challenges

It's been such a beautiful couple of days with the sunshine out, that I've been getting out more to do my yoga instead of staying inside.  So I quickly whipped out a Flying Lizard pose on Friday.  Had not done this pose for a while now:

Although the surfaces are a bit rougher than the comforts of carpet inside, I opted for a safer pose.  I have to admit, I  didn't want to go too high on the lizard in case I fell flat on my face on the cement...that would have been a major owie!!

And for the btbb challenge - Gate Pose or Parighasana Pose:

jts challenge pose:

I think on Wednesday, I pressed out an eight angle pose as one of the yoga challenges on IG.  I admit to being obsessed with the 8 angle.  It continues to be a top favorite pose as I'm constantly fine tuning and tweaking it.  Super hard with shoes and a dress on but so much fun:

Day 10 - July Challenges

btbb - Ustrasana - Camel Pose.  I decided to do a Camel Variation.  A one-legged one.  It was challenging but so fun to play around with it.

and the jts challenge pose -

Day 8 - July Challenges

Moving right along - phew.  For the btbb challenge pose is the Compass Pose or Parivrtta Surya Yantrasana. My first time attempting this.

And this is the best I can do. Super hard to get that lifted leg straight.  I can manage getting my leg straight with seated poses leg down, but leg up is another story.  Keep practicing....

And for the jts challenge - a deep side stretch:
