Day 29 - Final Day

I've had this nagging headache since Sunday morning. It just didn't want to go away....this morning, I sat and ate breakfast and I just simply did not want to do any yoga, but I had one more challenge pose to do and I wanted to complete this month.  I said - "Just do it, Tif"....and I feel so much better now.


Headache is completely gone. Yay! Day 29 of the Yogalateslove Challenge was - we get to pick whatever pose we want so I chose the Lotus Peacock Pose or Padma Mayurasana.

My all time favorite is Natarajasana or Dancer Pose, I've always loved it from day one and I look forward to improving it along the way.

Day 26

I can't believe Feb. is almost done....I'm excited for March anyway so just a few more days of challenge poses and I have yet to figure out what I want in March.....there was a full body yoga by Jillian that looked so super hard and down right killer.......I looked at my husband and said, "Hey, let's do this one together.".....his response, "Yeah, right....I don't feel like dying just yet." lol....my hubs.  I drive him crazy sometimes.

Been ages since I practiced Mermaid....it was such a good stretch with the arm binding, I needed the stretch so bad....Eka Pada Rajakapotasana:

Day 25

I've been practicing the Elevated Lotus Lift/Full Lotus Lift or Utthita Padmasana.  I couldn't even do this 3 months ago.  It's still not as high up as I want to go but I am happy with the lift off:



I already tried the arms in-between my legs but the lift wasn't quite as aligned.  I will get there. Keep practicing.

Day 21

I get deliriously happy when the weather gets like this.....sunshine and 80's to 90's in February? I don't mind at all...and for those who really know me, I like to get outdoors when I can. We love spending time at the park, our favorite.  Water...somewhere near the water....


And a little Tree Pose from both of us...


My little poser looks disenchanted, but I think the sun is just directly in his face.

And how is my boy enjoying yoga? It's only Day 3 for him, but he is loving it!! He's enthusiastic - he wants me to hurry and finish up whatever it is I'm doing so that we can practice together.....I've never seen him so excited....well, it is new.....curious what his reaction will be by mid March.....I don't want him to tire, or become satiated.  I want him to always feel that yoga is fun, is always a learning process....and never dull or boring...

Day 18

I'm so, so very happy I got my little boy to do a vinyasa flow last night.  Up until now, he's always just joined in on a pose only if he felt like it if he saw me practicing one....but enough.....I've literally put my foot down and said, that's it....he is going to do 30 days of yoga with me....at least try....and I mean...he really HAS to stick with 30 days..... there is no exception......Seriously, I've waited long enough...waited for him to get a little bigger, stronger, more mature...if it's the last thing I do before I leave this earth, I will instill a sense of discipline within him.....he needs to learn balance, he needs to learn self control. It will be good if I can successfully implement this and can only hope that he will continue with it after 30 days.

If I can do this....my 'job' as a mom will be complete thus far.  There's always new things to teach our kids....this is really important to me....I need to teach my kid yoga. But even more importantly, I want him to like it.....no, actually I want him to be mature enough at some point and really LOVE yoga.

Seated forward fold or Paschimottanasana is up for today. Always a hard one but I've progressed since day one of ever doing this pose.  It's still not as perfect as I want it to be but can definitely tell by my old photos where I'm at with this now.

Day 13

This was an interesting one for the Yogalateslove Challenge ...I have never attempted this pose...it was quite hard to maintain my balance and keep that right knee and leg as straight as I could - called the Candlestick Dipper:


I'll be practicing this more, albeit, a very good side stretch.

I have not practiced my Splits or Hanumanasana for awhile, so I somehow threw that into my day - actually I did the splits yesterday:


I'm still working towards a more complex version of the splits - so many fun variations but have yet to progress to the variation that I would like, hopefully working on the mermaid combination soon.

Day 11

Moving right along with this month...ooh, I'm sooooo happy, the sun is out...it feels like Spring already....I could have this weather all year round.

Wide Plie is up for Day 11 of the Yogalateslove Challenge. Such a great stretch for the hips and buttocks, and everything else. You really honestly don't know how you are positioned.  You think about it mentally in your head and try to align yourself throughout the whole process.


You use your side vision to cue in on where your arms are - are my knees bent enough? Are my legs wide enough? Are my arms straight? Sooo much thought going into one pose that looks seemingly simple, yet not really....

Day 8

So many things going on today....It's Chinese New Year....Yay! Big, big celebration for a lot of families.  I wish all of my family and friends so much this year - especially good health, happiness, love, enlightenment, and prosperity.

Day 7

The Yogalateslove Challenge pose is Oil Rigger - first time I've tried this one, I think, what a great push-up for the triceps. Could really feel it burning in the arms and legs.


And what a good, solid workout from Adriene today....whoa...I'm tired already.  These super early morning sessions are killing me. I think I perform better at around 10 a.m. - I seem to be the strongest at that time and fully awake.

6:45 am....eyes wide open - get up or go back to sleep??? Ahhh, the decisions....normally, I would sleep in just a bit but the boys were already making noises and getting up so I said, what the hey....just get up, and do my thing.....because you know it feels good.....

And Adriene worked my abs this morning.....for just a short 16 min. session, it was killer! Arrghhh....didn't I tell myself not to do this before eating? So much strength needed for an abs workout sans food in my system.

Day 2

Busy, busy day. I barely had time to do my yoga today and was able to fit most of it in except for the last 7 minutes of the video..ha! I'll probably just re-do that one later.

But for todays Day 2 for Yogalateslove Challenge - it's Raja Kapotasana or King Cobra Pose:

If you're inclined to give Adriene a try as an 'online' instructor, I think you'll like her a lot! I have many favorite instructors but Adriene has that deeply soothing voice that guides you almost without looking at the screen.  I will, at some point, try out her EMPOWER and/or Re-BOOT series which is a deeper workout - much more extensive!

Day 1

Today kicks off my IG Challenge that I decided to join in on - Yogalateslove.  Half Cobra push-ups is up for Day 1.


And I'm continuing on another series of yoga videos from Adriene Mishler. Some are beginner, some are pose specific and others are power sessions that last a little longer if you want a little more umpphh in your practice.  I do them all.  It's great because sometimes you feel like doing just a little and other days, you feel like you want more.
