Day 30

And bam, just like that - April is did that even happen? I really enjoyed this months challenge, there were a lot of poses I've not tried yet before and it did challenge my thinking.  There were variations that I will continue to work on as well.

Final day is Mayurasana - Peacock Pose or a variation of it.

Happy Saturday!!! Whooohoooo!

Day 28

Parsva Bakasana or Funky side crow with my right arm dropped down instead of at the same heighth as my left arm.

Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Day 27

My all time nemesis is today - Boat pose variation it was - but I didn't do the criss cross of each leg and arm...I did the more standard version of Navasana:

And I keep returning to this video by Adriene if I want an intensity filled workout - it's the first video in her Empower Class series, this one is called HEART - Phase 1.

I love that she incorporates 4 sets of jumping jacks in the fun!

Can't believe this month is almost

Day 26

Today is a variation in Wall Splits, we were supposed to swagger our legs back and forth on the wall, but I decided just to do a still vertical split or Urdhva Prasarita EkaPadasana:

And I practiced this pose a week ago below, a favorite Downward Dog that I like is the One Legged Downward Dog or EkaPada Adho Mukha Svanasana:

Day 25

Today's workout was from Mary's Power Yoga Vinyasa Flow for Core Arm Balances. This is more of a Level 2-3 and is another 1-hour long session.  If any other video I've followed has made me sweat, I would have to officially say this video made me sweat the most....great challenges within the scope of her flows.  I needed a total body cleanser and I indulged in some extra self-care afterwards.

I'm exhausted but feel energetic....does that even make sense? You're tired after a good flow, but you still feel good! And today's challenge pose is a Toe Stand Variation/Padangusthasana:

I'm so excited for May! The month of May has always, in the past, been especially memorable for me for so many reasons.  May has always brought me much happiness in different ways....hoping that trend continues next month!

Sunday, April 24, 2016

Day 24

Today the pose is Tittibhasana or Firefly pose on your fingertips, although I heard and was advised by someone that doing any pose on your fingertips is not a good thing for you down the road....I guess I am just boring that way.  So I opted for safety and went with the classic Firefly with hands pressed flat to the ground:

Saturday, April 23, 2016

Day 23

Today is supposed to be inverted Lotus or Padmasana, but since I am restricted by my eye doctor from doing too many inverts, I modified my pose with a variation of a Dragon Pose with Lotus legs:

Looking forward to this weekend, lots of fun family things going incredibly happy when Saturdays roll around. :))

Friday, April 22, 2016

Day 22

A lot of leg stretching for this day with a Reclining Compass Pose with a straight leg.

Thursday, April 21, 2016

Day 21

Super early day today, so hard to get in an early workout, because I don't quite have the energy yet, but after a warm-up, it proved a bit easier....I went for one of Adriene's new Power Shakti Flows today:

Another 1-hour total body workout....I should be sleeping really good tonight.  And todays variation of a Lizard Pose - I have never tried before - Utthan Pristhasana:

Gosh, I love these challenges, so many different variations to play with!

Wednesday, April 20, 2016

Day 20

You kind of forget how hard some of these twisted poses can be until you re-visit them after awhile, and the feeling is so much deeper than usual - I normally don't do this arm bind too often, but, boy, it sure felt intense - Baddha Utthita Parsvakonasana or Bound Extended Side Angle Pose:

Tuesday, April 19, 2016

Day 19

Today I did a 1-hour Power Vinyasa Flow from one of my favorite local teachers - Mary O'Meara - I've added her YouTube channel to my right side navigation bar if anyone is interested.....her videos are intense if you are looking for a more powerful flow to your day.  Here is the one I followed today.....such a good sweat session, loved it!

And up for today for the challenge pose is an Airplane variation of the Fire Hydrant Pose:

Monday, April 18, 2016

Day 18

What a beautiful week it is going to be! Lots of sunshine and heat and I want to escape mid-week and head to the beach if I can...that would be really nice!!  And kicking off a Monday is Crow Pose or Bakasana:

Sunday, April 17, 2016

Day 17

It's obvious I have a long ways to go in practicing Visvamitrasana or Flying Warrior Pose, wow, this was just impossible for me.

Although it was such a feel good stretch, I do hope to one day pull up that right leg.

Saturday, April 16, 2016

Day 16

I think the variation today was a Fallen Triangle variation, but I just went with the classic Triangle Pose or Trikonasana:

Thursday, April 14, 2016

Day 14

Lots of knee work for todays pose which is a Half Frog with Low Lunge:

I'm a little bit physically exhausted from this week. Can't wait til Friday and I can relax more next week. Looking forward to that.

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

Day 12

Yesterday, I was playing around with chin stands and peacock's and any fun arm/leg balancing poses that I like.....I combined both a peacock and a chin stand together in this pose.

And today's pose is supposed to be tree pose upside down.....I opted for turning the photo right side up for my tree pose:

Monday, April 11, 2016

Day 11

Monday morning is Bharadvajasana or a seated spinal twist with half lotus leg and half hero:

Ready to conquer this crazy week!!

Sunday, April 10, 2016

Day 10

Today is a half crow and half firefly combination - tittibhasana and bakasana all in one....I thought firefly alone was pretty hard until I tried this happy for this challenge - it truly does challenge me to no end.

Saturday, April 9, 2016

Day 9

Today is a standing variation of grasshopper pose or parsva bhuja dandansana - but I chose to do the sitting down version as standing up was a bit tricky..... so here is the version I'm more comfortable with: is happy!

Day 7

Gosh, how did my life get soooo busy? I'm sitting here wondering how hectic things can be.  I'm most thankful for the many hobbies that I seem to have, things I love to explore, learn, and do - things that, ultimately, keep me grounded for whatever reason.

Time - the relentless question of time - who has time for hobbies? Too busy...there is no time...but you have to make time for I have quickly hour, a half hour, even if it's just 5 minutes of surrendering to something I love to do, it's still a whole, precious 5 minutes.

Even if it's sitting down to make a card to give to's the foundation of what makes me happy. Even if it's just learning a new pose that seems utterly impossible for me, it's still that sense of enlightenment I get.

Make time for everything you want in your life, you don't get that second chance ever...

What would I do without my hobbies? Things that provide me comfort, solace, a peace of mind....without it, I probably would not exist....

Today is Garudasana in Parsva Bakasana or a Side Crow balance with Eagle Legs:

Wednesday, April 6, 2016

Day 6

Today is a pyramid variation - Parsvottanasana - not easy to do at all....the challenge photo looks easy but so quite the opposite!

I'll write more much to do now. So many thoughts drilling in my head.....but I plan to blog a lot more later on.

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

Day 5

Ustrasana or Camel Pose used to really be my nemesis pose.  I never enjoyed it, it always made me uncomfortable and I could never really 'feel' anything....but now - after a lot of practice, I'm liking it more.  I can feel the slight change it makes with more back bending practice.

It's not my go-to pose that I like as much as say - natarajasana or eight angle, but I should definitely practice it more often.

Sunday, April 3, 2016

Day 3

Last day of our spring way too is Uttanasana or a variation of it - Bounded Forward Fold:

Saturday, April 2, 2016

Day 2

I just want to sleep in on these beautiful, lazy Saturdays....all day, wouldn't that be nice...but my heart is happy...seems as if spring time does that to you. It makes it easier to feel that you can conquer what you need to conquer no matter what is thrown at just learn to not worry too much about the future and only the immediate present.

Today is eight angle or Astravakrasana....supposedly a variation - but I just stuck with the classic 8.

Day 1

New month, refreshing change....and there were so many challenges to pick from....I went with this one because there are some poses I, either, have not tried or have difficulty with, so I thought it would be perfect for me.  Up for Day 1 is Bird of Paradise or Svarga Dvijasana:
