Day 30 - Practice INTUITION

ALMOST the last day of this 31-Day practice. I can't believe how fast it's gone by. I've thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to seeing how I progress for the rest of the year!


I'm hoping she ends Day 31 in a super fierce sort of way, I'm sure it will be a wonderful culmination of everything we have learned this past month.

Day 29 - TRUTH Practice

This was a super quick, 14 minute sequence, mostly seated and stretching in Sukhasana. A few twists and stretches for the neck and head, and a lifting up sequence using your hands from Sukhasana.


I'm ready for the week!! It's going to be super beautiful weather, finally!!! Yeeeeessssss! Thank you! I'm so done with winter. ;)

Day 28 - HEART Practice

Today was super busy and fun! New year's festivities were wonderful, but I'm soooo, sooo exhausted. It's the end of the day at 10:48.  I still wanted to get in my practice.  It's all mind over body, it truly is, no matter how hard it feels, or how tired you are or how sore you may be, or how stiff you may be at any given moment, I always try to think....I can do this....it's worth it.

Day 28 - so much heart opening sequences, some intense lunges and twists, and pleasantly surprised with Camel or Ustrasana:

Days 27, 26, and 25

Today was a good day....it was a good week altogether, actually it was a REALLY good week!! Little man came home with high marks at school this week and I'm so proud of him, what parent wouldn't be? I'm happy when he does well, I cherish those times. School isn't easy for kiddos nowadays, it's not like when we were in school, kids have it much tougher - and for them to do well, it takes a lot of effort.

And for me, well, today was a truly a test in time management for my soul....I used to foolishly not use my time well, but I sure do now....if I can fit in a lot of yoga time into my day, then I will.....if I can't...I can't, simple as that. I practiced all three days, two videos earlier this morning and finished off the last one late tonight. Not too bad. 3 for a total of 65 minutes.

Day 27 - SELF Practice - a lot of leg strengthening exercises and balancing flow. Some intensity with holding Warrior 1 variations. Moving with grace and ease:


Day 26 - CREATIVITY Practice - THIS one was a lot of fun, moving in so many different directions, making up our own way of flowing that is unique for us. There was a series of walking from Downward Dog up to plank and walking back to DD and forward fold with our hands, plus tip toe on DD:


Day 25 - ROOT Practice - this one was super swift and perfectly straightforward:


I'm officially well tired out and know I'll be sleeping in 'til about 9:30 tomorrow morning....10 if I'm super lucky - yeah, 10 on a Saturday....sounds good to me!

Day 24 and Day 23

I'm back! Yay......I have rested. I feel good. I was initially going to do both 23 and 24 this morning - all in one shot, until I saw that Day 24 was 47 minutes long, so I decided to break it up into my day. One in the morning, and the other one I just finished up this evening.

Day 24 - Practice PATIENCE - We started right off with some major core work, which I was surprised to see that at the very beginning. Worked on a different form of Cobra, practiced binding, twists, dancer's pose, elephant trunk pose, table top pose. Thoroughly surprised that she threw in Eight Angle Pose/Astravakrasana.



Day 23 - Practice DISCIPLINE - Pretty straightforward, I didn't find anything new to add to this practice aside from the deep breathing portion right at the beginning. That was hard....the rest, I found was nice and easy and I was glad - great way to ease back into things.

Day 22 - Gentle Practice

Ah, this was all low to the ground work. All on our backs and some sitting and hip opening exercises.....loved ending the weekend like this, it was perfectly what I needed.

Tomorrow, I have to get a procedure done, so I know I will be requested to not exercise for a few days, which means no yoga......no worries.....I will be back probably by Wednesday or Thursday to catch up starting with Day 23 by then.

Day 21 - Practice Strength

I love at the beginning of the video where Adriene flexes her biceps, air smooches them and says, "I'm READY to Pump.You.Up!"  Lol, I think only she could get away with saying that and still look cool. ;)

I don't think we stopped for one minute to rest in today's practice. It was non-stop. Loved that she threw in Pigeon and Mermaid Pose and Goddess Pose. Ahhh, that felt good. I was sincerely tired at the end.

Day 20 - Practice PEACE

Finished up super early today, yay! PEACE, how relevant for today's practice - in this day and age of anger, hate, disrespect, and differences, PEACE, sounds most suitable.  We learned to breathe a lot more in today's practice.

How about those leg pulses on each side? Straight leg and bent leg...That was intense - much harder than just simply kicking your leg and arms out and holding....I was pleasantly surprised to see 'leg' baby and elephant trunk prep! Loved today's gentleness, yet with a slight surge of energy and heat!


Sooooo ready for the weekend! And this rain we've been having, it's relentless.....but pretty and serene once it calms.  I'm eager to, someday, catch that perfect rainbow after a hard rain, but, alas....have yet to capture that on my camera!

Day 19 - Light Practice

Adriene taught us today, to simply move in a different way than we ususally do with some of our regular asanas.  Take it a step further, and play around with the whimsy and lightness of each pose. She showed us several variations of forward folds to halfway lifts, to mountain pose, side planks, cobra, downward dogs, thread the needle, boat, half splits, and half moon.

And, I fell asleep again in Savasana....about 5 minutes. Amazing how relaxed, yet tired I am at that moment.

Day 18 - Balancing Practice

I thought today was super fast paced. I've been sleeping like crazy lately, I can tell.....especially on the weekends, I just can't wake up and will sleep in 'til 9 or 9:30 sometimes.  That's pretty late for me, but my boys are great, they let mom sleep and they just do their own thing.  I could really get used to all this sleep. What a snooze fest I've been having!

My legs are super tired.....today added on to that with mostly standing floor work.  There were some sitting positions  but more grounded foot work like toe stand on both sides, tree stand with leg against upper thigh and flowing through with a forward bend...intense.

I loved the added deep side stretch - Janu Sirsasana - on both sides. Wait, what am I saying? Adriene always makes sure we do both sides.

Day 17 - Practice Stillness

Today is about being completely in the moment - having a clean slate and being still during meditation - being able to wipe your thoughts free of any worries or 'things' that you have to do and to just listen to what's currently around you at that moment.....being able to hold poses longer instead of rushing through them in a defined manner.

An absolute tranquil state of meditation is still an on-going journey for me....I haven't gotten there quite yet.  We practiced Pranyama. She introduced Fish Pose and Plow Pose...those felt good. Oh, and also a half warrior stance in which the arms were raised and held much longer.....

Day 16 - Sweet Practice

I'll be honest, I'm not that good when it comes to self-soothing. In 'Sweet' practice, Adriene asks us to honor our own body by way of 'hugging' ourselves, soothing our selves.  I feel very little when I try to perform self-massaging as in her video from the "Forgiveness" Practice.  It's a completely strange feeling for me....so much different from than... say... when your spouse touches you, or a loved one hugs you....that's more soothing, more comforting for me....that is definitely a feel good thing.

I'll have to continue on self-massaging and check back later down the road and see if there's any difference in my opinion.  Other than that, I thoroughly enjoyed Day 16.

Day 15 - Fearless Practice

Today was super fierce!! So much work - she started off slow but then, BAM, it was non-stop with very little in-between rest asanas. I counted, 4 or 5 utkatasana's, and some pyramid variations to half splits to criss cross leg forward folds. Ended with crow practice.

Day 14 - Forgiveness Practice

Definitely felt the heat with a variation of more difficult triangle to forward fold variations and adding on the element of balancing to that.  Some half splits.  And lots of Spinal Flexing. There was also an element of self massaging at the very beginning.

"Forgiveness" holds true and dear to my heart.....the art of forgiving yourself or someone else is not an easy task....I've mentioned in an older post, where I really had to find myself - in order to forgive someone - either it was someone who did me harm in the past or someone in my current life.  It took a tremendous amount of strength to forgive someone (actually more than one person) that I truly didn't want to......but I knew that I had to or else I just couldn't bare to move on.

It was the single best decision and I'm glad I've learned to 'forgive'.  It gives you a sense of relief. Makes you feel better. No one is perfect. Absolve your differences with people and move on, and that's exactly what I did.....and much more recently, I was even able to repair a damaged relationship and continue being a part of this person's life.  It is so amazing really.......forgiving someone! Truly powerful!! I always aim to incorporate forgiveness into my life.

Day 12 - In-Sync Practice

Today was definitely a little more heat and solid flowing. That last part with the open leg stretch and twist was intense and the full leg bicycles at the end - some major core. I'm tired and will definitely be sleeping like a baby tonight.

A very good, straightforward workout......loved that Hand to Big Toe Pose balancing, don't think I've ever seen her do that in any of her videos.

I do all the major balancing poses on my left leg.  Really need to work on my weaker side!

Day 10 - Thoughtful Practice

10:27 p.m. - finally got to my video today. Partly my fault, decided to do other things today....but instead of going to bed, I was inclined to do Day 10.  It's so quiet here.....as to not disturb my sleeping men, I thought I'd practice down in the living room tonight and crazy as it may be, I muted the sound.....yup, that was interesting - to not hear what Adriene was saying, but I could definitely feel her movements.

Today was thoughtful practice - a more soothing array of asanas, slowing it down, and a quicker video.  But then, there was a surprise, how about that low hover in Sphinx pose? Definitely felt the heat on that....and she incorporated Rabbit's pose which I rarely throw into my practice, so that was nice!  Feeling good and I think I'm ready for some good sleep now.

Day 9 - Empower Practice

I'm glad whenever I'm able to finish up before 5 p.m. Woot! Can relax a bit  - go cook dinner and then rest.  EMPOWER. When you hear that word, you know that means work, sweat baby, lots of sweat!!

Adriene has an Empower Series that gives you a pretty good, tough workout if you ever want one. One that I especially liked in the past was the full Power Yoga class that is 45 minutes long, called "Heart" from her Empower Yoga Series. If you have time, definitely worth it.

Todays was about 33 minutes so not bad, I definitely had some sweat upon finishing.

Day 8 AND Day 7

I am a bit behind so I did both Days 7 and 8 this morning. Wanted to catch up so I could be back to Day 9 on the right day.....I hate being late.

Day 8 - PRACTICE SERENITY - Although this video comprised a lot of soothing and restful asanas, she did kick it up a notch at the very end with some core work with yogi bicycles, pulsing with both legs straight up, and scissor legs.


Day 7 - STABILITY PRACTICE - Loved this video because there were so many foundational poses like triangle, tadasana, tree, warrior 2. But it was so much more than the basics....it was really understanding your body and how in tuned are you into the precision of each of these poses - so the stability or balance that is required for each of them.  She explains in detail which parts of our body are really activated when we attempt to position ourselves with the foundations. How it ultimately helps us with a great posture when we walk, and integrating it into our daily lives when we're off the mat.

Day 5 - Practice Rhythm

Today was a little slower paced and not quite as intense as yesterday, or at least that's how I felt as we were to practice our entire body rhythm a bit more.  Exploring our inner soul and movement instead of just the strict, choppy, choppy, yoga poses.  Not everything always has to be aligned. We must feel free to play a little and move and bend out of norm.


I was happy she incorporated Dancer's Pose, one of my absolute favorite balancing poses. And....tomorrow is the 6th, so you know what that means, right? SIX....PACK....ABS! Grrrr! Roooaaar! YES! That doesn't sound very convincing when typed...I really did say that out loud.....you know she will work us hard on Day 6.

Day 4 - Prana Practice

That first part in the video where she did the pranyama - goodness...that was hard and that was some major abdominal and breathing control. I could not do it as well as she did it.

Much faster pace today and loved the extra arm muscle work, lizard to forearm plank,  plenty of table top position twists and turns, and a multitude of variations that I've never seen in her previous bootcamps. Really enjoyed today! Can't wait for what she has in store tomorrow!

Day 3 - Honor your practice

Today, I felt a little more HEAT! I noticed at least four poses where she twisted up the components a bit, it was quite refreshing - toe taps with planks, a different variation on the boat pose, and two different variations on core work towards the end and toe stands.  I really needed the extra heat today!! It was a super cold morning!!

And, I've only done this once before, during shavasana, I fell asleep right after for about 10 minutes. Wow!! Too relaxing, I guess, gotta be careful with my time management and make sure I don't do these sessions too late or else I'll fall asleep again and be late for getting out of the house!

Day 1 - Practice Ease

I've come down with a nasty cold and cough - but that certainly didn't stop me from starting Day 1.  It was the perfect way to 'ease' back into the New Year and learn to take it slow again after the busy holiday season.  It was great!! Both the holidays and todays video. After all the family time, kids on school break, traditions, playing games, baking, cooking, and Christmas card making....it was really nice to remember to slow down my go, go, go attitude and just relax.

Day 1 incorporated some simple stretches, balancing, as well as a touch of core work.
